Overview
Davi’s Carrollton facility lets North American buyers see Davi plate and angle rolls demonstrated and, if an application trial is arranged, test representative work. Its training, refurbishment, and customer-support resources are useful to evaluate, but they don’t establish whether a particular machine will meet a part specification.
- Consider four-roll plate rolls for recurring shells, cones, or rings when material properties, thickness, width, minimum finished diameter, and handling needs suit the proposed configuration.
- Use representative material and target geometry for a runoff; agree in advance how to measure the formed shape and unbent edge, and whether results must repeat across typical work.
- Confirm the facility’s crane and rigging limits, then verify the specific machine configuration and its training, parts, refurbishment, and service arrangements.
Davi’s new North American facility in Carrollton gives plate-roll buyers a place to see Davi plate and angle rolls demonstrated and, when an application trial is arranged, to run representative work. The facility also houses technical training, machine-refurbishment bays, and customer support. For heavy-fabrication teams, the practical change is access to these Davi-specific resources—not proof that a particular machine will meet a part specification.
Davi announced the opening on September 22, 2026, and MTDCNC published coverage on September 23. The development makes application trials and supplier-side training and service resources a timely consideration for plate-roll buyers, while leaving machine-specific fit to be established against the buyer’s own work.
Where four-roll plate rolling fits
Plate rolls form flat plate into cylindrical, conical, and ring-shaped components, including shells for tanks, pipes, pressure vessels, and other industrial equipment. A four-roll configuration adds a roller compared with a three-roll design. Akyapak presents that configuration as offering more control and efficiency, but that is manufacturer guidance rather than an independent comparative test; the useful question is whether the proposed machine forms the buyer’s parts to the required geometry and production standard.
Four-roll plate rolls are worth evaluating for recurring shells, cones, and other curved plate work when the material, dimensions, end condition, and handling demands suit the proposed configuration. Material grade and mechanical properties, plate thickness and width, and minimum finished diameter all affect selection. Larger or thinner plate may also need a support arrangement suited to its span and forming position. On Akyapak’s AHS family, central and side supports are designed to help limit sagging and maintain alignment; that family-level description does not establish which supports or options are included in a particular machine offer.
Make the runoff represent the part
A useful application runoff uses material representative of the actual job, including its grade, strength, thickness, width, and condition. The drawing should show the target diameter or radius, cone or ring geometry where relevant, and the permitted unbent edge length. Before the trial, agree how the formed shape and edge condition will be measured and whether the result needs to repeat across a representative range of the shop’s work. A demonstration on different material or a simpler shape can show the process in motion without resolving whether the machine fits the production application.
Include support, lifting, and training in the decision
Workpiece weight, alignment, supports, lifting method, operator access, and clearance through the full forming cycle affect whether the trial reflects the real job. Davi’s announcement identifies an overhead crane at its showroom but does not state its lifting rating, so buyers should confirm the facility’s load and rigging limits before planning a test. Shop layout and the means of loading and removing the formed part also matter when translating a successful trial into an operating process.
Davi’s classroom, refurbishment bays, and customer-support center are resources at Davi’s facility. Their opening does not establish service coverage for Akyapak machines, a particular response time, or the options on a machine sold through another route. The Mac-Tech 4 ROLL PLATE ROLLS page is an Akyapak product category, not confirmation of the exact model or configuration for a buyer’s application. Confirm the machine and support arrangement being offered, including training, parts, refurbishment, and service for that specific equipment.
I’m Dave Graf, Mac-Tech’s Regional Sales Executive for Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, California, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, and Oregon. I help heavy-fabrication teams assess plate rolling, large-workpiece handling, installation, and supportability. Bring representative drawings, material grade and strength data, plate thickness and width, target geometry, production expectations, and handling constraints; I can help assess application fit and identify the machine-specific questions to resolve.
