Overview
Judge this used Profiilikeskus 3×4 by mating fit, coil compatibility and completed-component output—not nominal size alone. It combines straight-section forming, elbow forming and end crimping for compatible prepainted galvanized-steel downspout work.
- Compare formed straight sections, elbows and crimped ends with existing mating samples. Use required elbow drawings to check bend directions, offsets and shortest transitions; programmed lengths do not establish profile changeover.
- Start with the specified 26-gauge DX52/DX53 steel, not assumed approval for other materials. Verify finished thickness, strip width, coating system and coil dimensions, then trial the intended coil through straight-section corners and required elbow bends to inspect the finish.
- Estimate production with a representative mixed order, including crimping and coil changes. Family ceilings of 147 feet of downspout per minute or 500 elbows per hour are separate measures—not simultaneous rates or verified output for this used unit.
- Confirm the offered unit’s controls, crimping method and layout. Provide finish-protecting support and collection space for the longest section; integrated crimping does not establish unattended finishing, and automatic packing is not verified as included.
The Profiilikeskus 3×4 downspout platform fits recurring production of compatible prepainted-steel rainwater downspouts and matching rectangular elbows. One machine combines straight-section forming, elbow forming and end crimping; profile geometry and coil compatibility—not nominal size alone—determine whether it fits an existing product family.
The Profiilikeskus Oy DOWNSPOUT ROLL FORMER 3X4 INCH is a used-equipment offering for prepainted galvanized-steel components. Its forming section shapes strip into a closed downspout, while hydraulic post-cutting establishes section length. This is roofing-accessory equipment for gutter manufacturers and related sheet-metal producers, rather than a machine for roof panels or open gutters.
Profile geometry controls connection fit
Nominal 3×4 dimensions are not a complete tooling specification. The published profile drawing shows shallow corrugations, shaped corners and a seam along one face. Compare those features with the product to be supplied, especially where straight sections and elbows join.
Evaluate a formed straight section and elbow against an existing mating sample. That comparison is a better basis for component compatibility than width and depth alone. Requirements for another rectangular cross-section or round downspouts belong in a separate tooling discussion; programmed lengths do not demonstrate profile changeover.
Elbow geometry is more than an angle
The rectangular machine family allows downspout length and elbow angle to be changed through the control interface. Family programming also supports inch or millimeter dimensions and storage for up to 100 products. Confirm the offered unit’s controls before relying on those features.
Those settings help organize recurring lengths and bends as product programs, but they do not demonstrate every bend direction, offset or short segment. Use drawings of the required elbows to establish whether the installed forming section can make both the common geometry and the shortest transitions in the order mix.
Coil selection must preserve the finished surface
The offered configuration specifies 26-gauge DX52/DX53 steel for prepainted galvanized downspout work. Treat that as the starting material specification, not approval for other grades or thicknesses.
Prepainted material brings its final finish into the rolls. Formability depends on the substrate and coating together, so an alternative coil needs more than a matching gauge label. The coating also contributes to sheet thickness: tooling clearances must suit the finished material, not just the bare substrate.
Provide the finished thickness, strip width, coating system, coil weight and inside and outside diameters, including which face must remain outward. Those details connect the intended component to coil entry and forming rather than leaving the material decision at a nominal gauge.
Rough tooling, inadequate clearance and misalignment can mar the coating. Tool condition and contact pressure also matter because forming scratches remain on the finished product. Small radii and excessive overbending can contribute to paint microcracking in roll-formed prepainted steel.
A trial with the intended coil should include straight-section corners and the required elbow regions, not only an easy straight length. Inspect the finish at those bends before treating a substitute coil as suitable for the complete product family.
Crimping affects finished-component output
End crimping prepares connection ends for mating downspout segments. A family crimping-table arrangement requires the piece to be pushed into the table, so integrated crimping capability should not be read as proof of unattended finishing on the offered unit.
The operating sequence determines whether an operator must present each end and how crimping fits the straight-to-elbow mix. Compare the crimped sample with the intended mating component, and evaluate output as completed components rather than roll-forming footage.
The family’s published ceilings are 147 feet of downspout per minute or 500 elbows per hour. These are different output measures, not simultaneous rates or achieved output for this used machine. A representative mixed order, including necessary crimping and coil changes, is the useful basis for a production estimate.
Long sections need finish-protecting support
Surface protection continues after forming. Burrs and rough contact surfaces can damage prepainted material during processing and collection, even when profile geometry is correct. Support the longest section on suitable surfaces with enough room for collection without dragging the finish.
Use an actual-unit layout drawing to relate coil entry, outfeed and collection space. Automatic packing is a separate family integration option; it is not verified as included equipment in this offering.
