STEFA DH1000 Decoiler for Roll-Forming Lines

TL;DR

The STEFA DH1000 may suit a coil-fed roll-forming line if the quoted configuration matches the coils and its feed control is coordinated with the roll former; its hydraulic, motorized unwinding and automatic speed adjustment are not a guarantee of fit.

  • The product-specific specification gives capacity up to 10 tons; STEFA describes customized configurations up to 15 tonnes. Confirm the supplied machine’s rated capacity in the quote.
  • Coil-width choices are 1,250 or 1,500 mm. Check the full coil envelope: 470 mm minimum inner diameter, 540 mm maximum inner diameter, 640 mm with expansion, and 1,500 mm maximum outer diameter; confirm the included mandrel expansion.
  • Coordinate feed with the roll former as production master. Confirm loop arrangement, control signals, operating speed, start-up and stopping behavior, and entry alignment.
  • A coil lifting car, clamping arm, displacement system, and radio-frequency control are options, not assumed inclusions; specify what the quote includes and check loading access.

The STEFA DH1000 fits a coil-fed roll-forming line when the ordered machine covers the incoming coil dimensions and its feed control is coordinated with the roll former. Its hydraulic, motorized design and automatic speed adjustment make it a candidate for lines that need powered coil unwinding, but the quoted capacity and coil envelope—not the model name alone—determine fit.

Match the rated load and coil envelope

The product-specific DH1000 specification gives a capacity up to 10 tons and coil-width choices of 1,250 or 1,500 mm. STEFA’s family page describes customized DH1000 configurations up to 15 tonnes and presents 10,000 kg with a 15,000 kg configuration in its technical table. Treat 15,000 kg as configuration-dependent: the purchase quote should identify the rated capacity of the machine being supplied rather than imply that the higher rating is standard.

Width and weight do not define the whole fit. The DH1000 specification lists a 470 mm minimum inner diameter, 540 mm maximum inner diameter, 640 mm with expansion, and 1,500 mm maximum outer diameter. Compare those limits with the actual coils the line will run, and confirm which mandrel expansion and capacity configuration are included in the quote. A coil outside any specified limit is not established as a fit simply because its weight is within the machine rating.

Coordinate feed with the roll former

The DH1000’s published configuration describes hydraulic, motorized unwinding with automatic speed adjustment; its product specification also lists an analog height sensor for automatic loop control. The material loop between the decoiler and roll former accommodates differences in their ramp-up behavior. Keep the roll former as the production master and confirm how the decoiler’s feed control will follow its demand, including the loop arrangement and any control signals used.

This coordination matters particularly when adding a decoiler to an existing line or combining equipment from different suppliers. Confirm the downstream roll-former model, operating speed, start-up and stopping behavior, and entry alignment. A loop that becomes too slack or goes taut as the line accelerates can indicate that the feed behavior needs adjustment; sufficient load capacity alone does not ensure a good line match.

Specify loading options for the shop layout

Available DH1000 options include a coil lifting car, clamping arm, displacement system, and radio-frequency control. These are configuration choices, not features to assume are included. A coil car may suit a workflow where coils need powered lifting and positioning onto the mandrel, while the right arrangement depends on how coils arrive, where the decoiler sits, and the available loading access.

For an existing installation, assess the coil’s delivery path, loading clearance, mandrel position, and strip route into the roll former. For a new line, specify the decoiler and roll former together so their feed behavior and physical alignment can be considered as one system. Ask the quote to state the selected capacity, width, mandrel range, control arrangement, and included loading options.

I’m Jon Williams, a Mac-Tech Sales Executive serving the Western and Central United States, with northern Wisconsin overflow. My forming-line work includes coil loading and entry, feeding, roll forming, and line pacing. Bring the heaviest and widest coil specifications, core and outside diameters, the downstream roll-former model and speed, and a description or sketch of the loop, controls, and loading access. I can help assess the DH1000 configuration against your coil range and line layout and identify the details to confirm in the quote.
